Bakuretsu is an independent design studio that specializes in minimalist graphics inspired by anime, manga and Japanese pop-culture. Founded by J.W. Tee, an engineering graduate and self-taught designer, the studio’s mission is to create elegant and unconventional solutions.
Minimalism as a design philosophy believes in mindfully subtracting visual elements that don't add value to a piece of artwork and highlighting the beauty in everything that remains. This "less is more" approach cultivates a unique aesthetic that allows for clear, uncluttered self-expression.
The name bakuretsu「バクレツ」(translation: exploding) is a reference to my previous work in chemistry and engineering, where I was once fascinated by the science of detonations. It also perfectly encapsulates the idea of combining simple parts into something far more impactful than its components.
