Bakuretsu is an independent studio that specializes in minimalist graphic design with a focus on anime and Japanese pop-culture. Founded by J.W. Tee, an engineering graduate and self-taught designer, the studio’s mission is to create elegant and unconventional solutions.
Minimalism as a design philosophy believes in mindfully subtracting visual components that don't add value to a piece of artwork and highlighting the beauty in everything that remains. This "less is more" approach cultivates a unique aesthetic that allows for clear, uncluttered self-expression.
The name bakuretsu「バクレツ」(which translates to exploding) was inspired by my previous work in chemistry and engineering, where I was once fascinated by the science of fires and detonations. It also perfectly encapsulates the idea of combining and refining simple elements that ultimately expand forth to convey a powerful message.
